Notes

  • Our School of Performing Arts recitals are this weekend. We had two wonderful recitals last night, and we have three today, at 10:00a, 1:00p, and 3:00p. If you’d like to enjoy some great music today and get a taste of what your School of Performing Arts is all about, you’re invited to attend! There is also punch and cookies.

  • Remember: to wrap up the Spring semester, we are going to have a “Night of Worship in the Psalms“ on Sunday evening, May 4 at 5:00p, involving kids and students as well. The Wednesday rehearsal on April 30 (next week) will be an extended rehearsal until 8:00p to help prep for this service.

Prayer requests

  • Karen Hall (alto), who broke her foot and finds out Wednesday if she needs surgery.

  • Beverly Nash, who was in the hospital last week with unexplained bleeding. She is waiting for biopsy results.

  • Betty Speck (soprano), having lots of pain from polymyalgia.

  • Glee Miller and family, grieving the passing of Mr. Richard.

  • Linda Kay Ledbetter, Paige Gazaway’s aunt, recovering from a leg amputation surgery.

  • Brenda Gaw, who fell and broke her hip.

An Extra

If someone asked you—“What is a church?”—what you would you say? Or how about this—what makes a group of Christians at the Chris Tomlin concert last week or in a bible study at Starbucks different than the group of Christians that gather in our worship center on Sunday morning? Or is there a difference?

These are good and important questions to clarify as we try to think biblically about the local church. Jonathan Leeman gives some good bullet points about the nature of the church in this brief article. Think for a minute about your answers to the questions above, then check out the linked article. Is there something there that you hadn’t thought about before?

Corporate worship is designed to turn your fear into trust, your complaints into praise, and your independence into willing submission.

Have a great weekend, and I’ll see you Sunday.
