Worship Ministry Weekly Update

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. Things are ramping back up next week. Here’s what you need to know.

This Sunday

This Sunday will be led by band and praise team only. Call time for instrumentalists, praise team, and A/V is 8:00am on stage.

***Choir and orchestra will return to leading worship on Sunday, January 12.

The sermon text for the day comes from 1 Corinthians 1:1-9, and Jesse will be preaching.

We’re singing Come Thou Fount, God is Able, Holy Holy Holy, and All Glory Be to Christ.

Notes

Here’s a quick run down of the upcoming schedule:

Prayer requests

  • Pastor Scott as he continues to recover from surgery.

  • Bridget Horner, who recently got a cancer diagnosis. Please pray for wisdom as they explore treatment options and make a plan.

  • Pray for our continued ministry in 2025—that we would honor Christ and serve the church well through the worship ministry, as well as the ministry of the entire church.

  • Jessica Gentry (soprano) and her husband Brandon, who are expecting a baby girl. There is a baby shower for them on Sunday, January 12 at 1:30p. You can find more info here and contact Jennifer Acuff to RSVP (931-303-7831).

An Extra

I recently came across this prayer from Charles Wesley (1707-1788) that I thought summed up a great prayer for the new year:

“I am no longer my own, but yours.
Put me to what you will, place me with whom you will.
Put me to doing, put me to suffering.
Let me be put to work for you or set aside for you,
Praised for you or criticized for you.
Let me be full, let me be empty.
Let me have all things, let me have nothing.
I freely and fully surrender all things to your glory and service.
And now, O wonderful and holy God, Creator, Redeemer, and Sustainer, you are mine, and I am yours. So be it. Amen.”

See you soon,
Andy
