Worship Ministry Weekly Update

Happy Thursday!

Christmas in Cookeville is coming up! Here’s what you need to know this week.

This Sunday

Full worship ministry is leading, though the stage will look a little different. Call time for instrumentalists, praise team, and A/V is 8:00am on stage. Choir meets in the choir room at 8:35am.

The sermon text for the day comes from Luke 18:9-14, and Pastor Scott will be preaching.

We’re singing Angels From the Realms of Glory w/Emmanuel, God the Uncreated One (King Forevermore), O Come O Come Emmanuel, and Come Unto Jesus.

Notes

  • Christmas in Cookeville is next week on December 13 and December 15. Here’s a reminder of the upcoming rehearsals:

    • Sunday afternoon, Dec. 8 (3-5p): band/orchestra only

    • Tuesday evening, Dec. 10 (6-8p): full rehearsal

    • Wednesday evening, Dec. 11 (6-8p): full rehearsal

  • If you cannot attend one of the rehearsals, please make sure someone in your section knows so we can save you a seat. We will need to keep a very similar seating arrangement in the choir loft for both services.

  • Dress for the services is “all black with a pop of red.”

  • Call times for both services on Friday and Sunday are 4:45p for orchestra and 5:15p for choir. If you are coming from work and will be late, that’s ok!

Prayer requests

  • Kathy Dyer, recovering from surgery and going through physical therapy.

  • Emily Leopold’s brother and wife, fighting for custody rights in the adoption process.

  • Peggy Carr’s sister, Lisa, who fell Friday and is unable to walk.

  • Tommy Young, who had a heart attack yesterday

  • Carson Langford, taken to the PICU at Vanderbilt.

An Extra

Some trust in chariots, and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
— Psalm 20:7

We’ve done a TON of musical and technical preparation over the past few months, and I’m so proud of what you’ve accomplished. However, we know that lasting spiritual impact comes not from our skill, but from God’s gracious and sovereign working. Would you join me in praying over the next few days for our Christmas services next weekend?

Here’s a brief daily prayer guide to help unify us as we ask for God’s blessing and power.

See you Sunday,
Andy
