Happy Reformation Day!
Here’s what you need to know this week.
This Sunday
Full worship ministry is leading. Call time for instrumentalists, praise team, and A/V is 8:00am on stage. Choir meets in the choir room at 8:35am.
The sermon text for the day comes from Matthew 25:31-36, and Pastor Scott will be preaching.
We’re singing The Solid Rock, Our God Will Go Before Us, Only a Holy God, and He Will Hold Me Fast.
Notes
Please note that this Sunday we’re singing Our God Will Go Before Us again (a new song). Here’s a refresher on how it goes if you need it!
Christmas in Cookeville has been scheduled for December 13 and December 15. Please mark your calendars and plan to be a part! It’s going to be great. The week of the services, we will have three important rehearsals. Please plan to attend these as well:
Sunday afternoon, Dec. 8 (3-5p): band/orchestra only
Tuesday evening, Dec. 10 (6-8p): full rehearsal
Wednesday evening, Dec. 11 (6-8p): full rehearsal
Prayer requests
Jack Dillon (Grace’s husband) in the hospital with heart issues.
Reagan Bagci, continued prayer for healing and further treatment.
Ronnie Franz, friend of Mike/Shauna Buckner, diagnosed with brain tumor and seeking next steps.
Ricky Gentry (former choir member and brother to Kim Hanna), sick at home.
An Extra
October 31 is known as Reformation Day, the day commemorating Martin Luther’s famed nailing of his 95 theses to the castle church door in Wittenberg, Germany. This is the event that we typically look back to as the beginning of the Protestant Reformation, a great recovery of Scriptural truth in the church.
Every year I’m reminded to go back and listen to this album of music featuring the late great theologian, R.C. Sproul. Here’s the first song in the album, a brief re-telling of Luther’s story with some great orchestral and choral accompaniment. Enjoy!
See you Sunday,
Andy
