Worship Ministry Weekly Update

Happy Thursday!

Here’s what you need to know this week.

This Sunday

Full worship ministry is leading. Call time for instrumentalists, praise team, and A/V is 8:00am on stage. Choir meets in the choir room at 8:35am.

The sermon text for the day comes from Jeremiah 29:4-7, and Jesse Haywood will be preaching.

We’re singing I Will Sing, O How I Love Jesus, All Sufficient Merit, and How Deep the Father’s Love For Us.

Notes

  • Just your periodic reminder: the access code to the backstage choir room area is 2064. Please do not share this code with anyone outside worship ministry.

  • We have a seen a remarkable worship ministry consistency in attendance for Wednesday rehearsals and Sunday morning services. Thank you for showing up every week. That shows that you take your calling seriously and want to serve God and our church with your very best. Keep up the great work.

  • Christmas in Cookeville has been scheduled for December 13 and December 15. Please mark your calendars and plan to be a part! It’s going to be great.

  • We mentioned Emily Leopold’s baby shower last night—if you’d like that info, you can find it on this invite.

Prayer requests

  • Dennis Baker, whose father is in the hospital for heart failure and pneumonia.

  • Paige Gazaway’s father, Jim, who has pneumonia.

  • Betty Chaffin’s husband, Larry, awaiting biopsy results for a spot on his face.

  • Maleah Keith and family, as her husband Joshua is deployed with the military.

  • Betty Speck, back issues and colonoscopy tomorrow.

  • Thomas Jacobs, cancer treatments.

An Extra

I mentioned to choir last Sunday that, thanks to your kind gift last Christmas, DeAnna and I were able to attend a Nashville Symphony concert. It was absolutely amazing. We got to see a performance of one of my favorite symphonies ever—Gustav Maher’s 5th symphony. This work is known as a brass player’s dream come true.

Check out the opening trumpet solo at the 1:00 mark, and then listen to some glorious brass from 24:50-26:30. Some of the best orchestral writing out there, in my opinion.

Listen to this piece, and thank God for creating a world in which music is possible. What a gift to us!

See you Sunday,
Andy
