Happy Thursday!
Here’s what you need to know this week.
This Sunday
Full worship ministry is leading. Call time for instrumentalists, praise team, and A/V is 8:00am on stage. Choir meets in the choir room at 8:35am.
The sermon text for the day comes from Acts 9:1-9, and Pastor Scott will be preaching.
We’re singing Psalm 150 (Praise the Lord), Holy Forever, O Praise the Name (Anastasis), and Christ My Hope My Glory.
Notes
I try to mention every once in a while that we have a Life Group that meets in the choir room each Sunday during the 9:00 service, right after we lead worship for the service. If you haven’t found a Life Group and want to join us, you are welcome! The teacher is kind of goofy, but we have a great time looking at the Word.
Christmas in Cookeville has been scheduled for December 13 and December 15. Please mark your calendars and plan to be a part! It’s going to be great.
Would you help us with a little recruiting? We are in need of a few people to serve in A/V for the 9:00 service. We try to schedule those volunteers in the service they normally attend so they don’t miss a life group, so we’re primarily looking for people in the 9:00 worship service. If you can think of someone that might be a good fit to serve there, feel free to pass along their name to me so we can connect.
Prayer requests
Ricky Gentry, Kim Hannah’s brother, still in the hospital.
Ashley Michael, having cancer surgery at Vanderbilt on Friday.
Maleah Keith and family, as her husband Joshua is deployed with the military.
Betty Speck, back issues and colonoscopy next Friday.
Thomas Jacobs, cancer treatments.
An Extra
I just wanted to share a picture of our brand new homeschool band program! Through the School of Performing Arts, we now have 6th-12th grade students learning band instruments in an ensemble meeting right on our worship center stage each Wednesday. These are primarily students who are homeschooled or who attend hybrid schools.
The band directors are our very own Nando and Rebecca Rosales. A big thanks to them and to April for the hard work in getting this program off the ground.
Band is such a wonderful, life-shaping experience for students and I’m proud that we can offer it through the ministry of our church’s School of Performing Arts. I’m so thankful for our church family who helps subsidize this ministry as we seek to create Christian artists who love to serve the church. My whole personal journey as a musician started in 5th grade when my mom pulled my band registration form out of the trash can and encouraged me to do it.
Through homeschool band, our church hopes to continue to grow as a hub of aspiring musicians and worship leaders for the Kingdom. I’m looking forward to seeing all that God has planned for it for the future.
See you Sunday,
Andy
