Worship Ministry Weekly Update

Happy Friday!

Welcome back, everyone. It was great to see everyone together again on Wednesday, along with a few new faces. I’m excited to lead worship with you again this Sunday!

This Sunday

Full worship ministry is lead. Call time for instrumentalists, praise team, and A/V is 8:00am on stage. Choir meets in the choir room at 8:35am.

The sermon text for the day comes from Matthew 13:24-30, and Pastor Scott will be preaching.

We’re singing He is Our God, My Soul Will Wait (Psalm 62), His Mercy is More, and Christ is Mine Forevermore.

Notes

  • All regularly scheduled rehearsals and ministries are back on Sundays and Wednesdays! As always, please remember to do your best to be on time. It’s courteous to everyone and helps us do our best as a team.

  • We are in need of a few volunteers to help with kids choirs on Sunday evenings from 5:00-6:00p. If you are available to help, please contact April (alangford@stevensstreet.org).

  • More on this below, but if you are able to attend our Worship Weekend mini retreat on August 16-17, please go ahead and sign up ASAP. This will help us prep things well. You can register and pay right here.

Prayer requests

  • Thomas Jacobs (piano), who is undergoing chemo treatment and immunotherapy for lung cancer.

  • Ashley Michael (alto) recovering from cancer surgery tomorrow.

  • Pat Bowman (soprano), recovering from cancer surgery.

  • Skip Ritter, recovering from back surgery.

  • Lisa Hutson’s mom, having surgery today with a long recovery ahead.

  • The family of Elizabeth Brown, longtime Stevens Street organist who passed away last week.

Worship Weekend (Aug.16-17)

I’m really looking forward to doing something a little different to kick off the new year of worship ministry. In addition to some rehearsals, we’ll hear some great teaching from Mike Harland and be led in worship by Jon Rushing. A/V team—we’ve got the media and technology director from Forest Hills Baptist Church (Nashville) coming in to help pour into you all specifically.

You can find the general schedule of the weekend on this page, but your only time commitments will be Friday evening (8/16) and Saturday morning (8/17) through about 2:15p. Your registration includes dinner on Friday and lunch on Saturday. Childcare is available. We are inviting other churches to participate, so feel free to invite someone if you think they’d be interested.

Of course I understand some of you will have prior commitments, but if you can, please plan to be there. I would love for us to have as many Stevens Street worship ministry members there as possible. You can find more info and sign up right here. Again, please sign up ASAP so we can get a handle on numbers.

See you Sunday,
Andy
