Happy Thursday!
I hope you are having a great week. I’m ready to get back to our normal schedule, which is coming up next week! It feels like it’s been so long since we’ve been together.
Lots of important info in this update. I’ll be brief, be please be sure to read it through.
First, a reminder that this coming Sunday (July 28) is the final Sunday for band/praise team only. Choir and orchestra will be back in action next Sunday (August 4).
Worship Ministry Interest Meeting (7/31)
This is our annual “if-you-are-interested-in-worship-ministry-come-learn-more” meeting, happening this coming Wednesday (7/31) at 6:00p in the worship center. We’ll talk through big picture stuff and rehearse together, so orchestra, bring your instruments, please.
This is by far the best time to invite someone new to come with you. The vast majority of worship ministry members we have now are here because someone asked them to visit on a Wednesday night. What if everyone invited just one person to come hear what we’re all about?
This will not be a cookout (because of what’s coming up next), but we will have good snacks. Can’t wait to see everyone again.
Worship Weekend (8/16 & 8/17)
I let you know about this weekend back in May, and now registration is live! This is the first time in at least 7 years that we’ve brought someone in to do a weekend of teaching for worship ministry, and I’m very excited about it. Mike Harland, former Director of Lifeway Worship whom many of you know, will be here to teach, as well as my friend Jon Rushing, the worship pastor at First Baptist Sparta.
We are inviting churches in the area to join us and hear what Mike and Jon have to say, but I really wanted to prioritize this weekend for you—to be encouraged in your work as worship leaders, and to hear from some wise men what it means to lead worship well. Mike and Jon will also be rehearsing the choir, and I’m excited for you sit under them.
I know this is something new, and it will cost you a little time and a few dollars ($10 to be exact, which covers your meals!). However, I think the impact of doing a workshop weekend like this together will be absolutely worth it, and I would love it if we had 100% participation from everyone in worship ministry. Please make every effort to attend. We’ve even got childcare covered.
Choir members, orchestra/band members, and A/V team members—you can go ahead and sign up today! Just let me know if you have any questions.
