Worship Ministry Weekly Update

Happy Thursday!

Here’s what you need to know this week:

This Sunday

Full worship ministry is leading - choir, band, and orchestra. Call time for instrumentalists, praise team, and A/V is 8:00am on stage. Call time for choir is 8:30am in the choir room. The big anthem, Psalm 23, is up!

The sermon text for the day comes from Acts 2:1-13, and Pastor Scott will be preaching.

We’re singing Love Lifted Me, My Soul Will Wait (Psalm 62), Great Are You Lord, and Psalm 23.

Notes

  1. As I mentioned last night, just a quick schedule reminder to block off Good Friday (March 29). We are planning a Good Friday worship service for that evening.

  2. Something new! In preparation for our March 3 multigenerational worship service, we are going to have two youth choir rehearsals to involve students in that Sunday’s service. These two rehearsals will take place from 4:00-5:00pm on February 18 and February 25, which are Sundays. We will need several volunteers to help run these rehearsals and give the students confidence in their parts. If this is something you are interested in, please let me know.

  3. Those of you on the praise team rotation, please watch your inbox in the next couple weeks for some instructions regarding the incorporation of some new technology that will affect you (for the better!). So please don’t accidentally delete that email when it comes through.

Prayer requests

  • Chloe Regon (Debbie Baker’s mom), who, with the passing of Debbie’s sister-in-law, has lost four siblings and a daughter-in-law in the past 13 months.

  • Kathleen Marshall (alto), undergoing cancer treatments

  • Betty Speck (soprano), doctor’s appointment on Friday

  • Joshua and Amy Lou Gentry, welcoming a new baby boy in their family and adjusting to life.

  • Reagan Bagci (along with Ali and Michelle). Reagan’s next milestone is an allograft surgery at St. Jude on March 11.

An Extra

Just a quick resource for you: if you own a tablet (iPad or otherwise), you have access to an amazingly handy app called “Planning Center Music Stand.” It’s the program I (and others) use on Sundays to display my sheet music. It is a different app than the green one many of you already use, but it’s by the same company and automatically syncs with everything we do in Planning Center already.

Basically, with the Music Stand app, you can display full pages of sheet music from services and swipe through it easily. It is the easiest and fastest way to pull up music to practice or use in rehearsal or services. Choir members, you can even use in choir rehearsal if you’d like.

It’s free for you to use as a member of our church’s plan. Check it out if you haven’t already: https://www.planningcenter.com/music-stand

As always, let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I am praying you have a great weekend and that you come to church Sunday ready to lead our church in treasuring Christ together!
