Worship Ministry Weekly Update

December 2, 2023

Happy Saturday, everyone! I’m so sorry I had to miss rehearsal on Wednesday night due to sickness, but I am so thankful for our awesome team who took care of everything in my absence.

There are some important details in this update regarding the Christmas service and worship ministry banquet, so please read carefully.

Coming Up

This Sunday

Scripture text: 1 John 3:1-3

Sing We the Song of Emmanuel
O Come O Come Emmanuel
O Lord My Rock and My Redeemer
Is He Worthy

Remember this from 2020?

Notes

  • As you are probably aware, we have added key code locks to the choir room area. There was no particular situation that made us do this; this was just something we’ve been wanting to do for a while to secure that area better. It’s my hope this will give you a little more assurance if you leave your purse in the choir room (aaaand, as we cut down on traffic through that space, maybe make our bowl of mints last longer). The keycode to enter is 2064. Please do not share this will anyone outside the worship ministry or security team.

  • Full worship ministry is leading worship tomorrow, December 3. Please take a look at the songs we’re singing, which include two familiar Christmas songs. We’ll work on them a little in the choir room tomorrow morning.

  • Next Wednesday will be our final Christmas service rehearsal, and it will last until 8:00p. Kids choirs will join us for part of that time to run their two songs.

  • Regarding dress for our Christmas service, we will again do all black, with a pop of red. We considered changing things up, but ultimately think it is wise to wait another year on this. So this means, please wear all black clothes with some sort of little red accent. If you have any questions as to the specifics of what this means, I would kindly direct your attention to April or Mandy, as I, possessing the fashion sensibilities of a wild Tibetan yak, will invariably be of little help to you.

  • An important note for the Christmas service (and every Sunday)—please refrain from heavy use of perfumes or colognes (this goes for ladies and guys). In tight quarters, perfumes can cause problems for many people, especially going into the winter months when the heat is running. Thank you for your help and cooperation in this.

Worship Ministry Banquet

Monday, December 18 at 6:00p in the Fellowship Hall

This will be fun time of food and fellowship for our worship ministry family (along with a few surprises)! Spouses and families are invited (we will have arrangements for children under 17).

We just need two things from you:

(1) Please RSVP so we know how many people to expect! Just fill out this quick form: [click here]
(2) If you are willing, please sign up to bring a dish to share. You can do that here: [click here]

Prayer Requests

  • We’ve had several worship ministry members lose family members in the past few days. Please pray for the families of Dee Bean (lost her father), Jennifer Ledbetter (lost her father), and Grace Dillon (lost her mother).

  • Our Christmas worship service on December 10. Pray for the lost who will be in attendance.

  • Reagan Bagci and family (Ali, Michelle) as they, Lord willing, near the end of Reagan’s cancer treatment at St. Jude. Right now they are facing a surgery decision regarding removing nodules on his lungs.

  • Pastor Scott, as he prepares to preach the Word on Sunday.

  • Looking to pray something specific for our church? Pray Ephesians 3:16-19.

An Extra

Just a song for you today—one we included in our Christmas service a couple years ago. It’s a newer hymn that’s one of my favorites around this time of year.
