ORDER OF WORSHIP

Welcome Back!

It was wonderful to have everyone back on Wednesday evening! We are excited for another year of making much of Jesus and keeping the church and her Song connected. Here’s a little reminder from our worship ministry handbook of how we do that:

“Making much of Jesus ” — We worship God through Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. The music we sing is Christ-exalting, Gospel-centered, and Scripture-saturated. Our primary role is to praise Him and point to Him as exceedingly glorious and wonderful, the only way of salvation. (Col. 1:15-20) Like a picture frame around a priceless painting, we want to serve with undistracting excellence in our goal of magnifying the worth of Christ.

“Keeping our church and her Song connected” — God gives a Song to those He redeems (Ex. 15, Eph. 5:18-20, Rev.15:3-4). It’s a Song of thankfulness, adoration, and praise remembering who He is and what He’s done for us. Our job is to facilitate the physical expression of that Song by our congregation—primarily through faith-filled singing.

What a blessing it is that (as Jennifer put it on Wednesday) we get to serve our church in this way! Thank you for your continued commitment and enthusiasm as we look ahead to what God has in store for this year. Your consistency is an encouragement to the people of Stevens Street and shows them that Jesus is the center of everything we do, not the people who happen to be in front that day. He is worthy of all we have to offer.

Prayer Requests

  • Elaine Seal will be having surgery next Wednesday. Pray for her as she undergoes her procedure and recovers.

  • Lee Bailey’s dad was recently diagnosed with inoperable stage four cancer. Pray for the Baileys in the coming months.

  • Continue to pray for Judy Ullery, who has been out for a couple of months with health issues.

  • Debbie Baker’s dad has been in the hospital this week due to a pressure ulcer on his heel. He’s also having issues with anemia in addition to his heart concerns.

  • Tabitha Rexford asked prayer for her brother. He is a missionary in Alaska and is currently traveling to churches around the country to raise support. He is also dealing with the recent loss of his mother.

  • Beverley Nash asked prayer for her 89-year-old brother-in-law who is beginning chemo treatments next week.

  • Be in prayer for the Scott family. Russ Scott is home on hospice with pancreatic cancer. Pray for his wife and their four boys.

  • Pray for the man God is preparing to be our next Worship Pastor. The search team has narrowed the candidates down to six that will be submitting a questionnaire as the next step in the process. Pray for wisdom for our team as they seek God’s will for Stevens Street.

An Extra

We’re singing several new songs this semester! We’ll have listening CDs for you on Wednesday. Here’s one we’ll be introducing to the congregation in the coming months.

See you Sunday!
