MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Don’t forget that Memorial Day weekend is coming soon. On Sunday, May 25th at 10a, our entire church family will gather for one combined morning service in the Worship Center. Be sure to share this information with your group members.

Please note: There will be no nursery, and no Life Groups or ministry activities for preschool, kids, or students that morning. We encourage families to worship together in the service. Additionally, there will be no evening ministry activities on campus.

EAR TO THE GROUND

At our previous Life Group Leader meeting, we had a great discussion about the importance of having “unreasonable hospitality” in our Life Groups and in our church. The THIRD topic we discussed having our ear to the ground.

A key shift for leaders cultivating a welcoming ministry and pursuing hospitality is trust. Hospitality starts with noticing where you are, becoming more aware of who is around you, and trusting there is work to do right here. An important shift from obligatory door greeting to becoming a welcoming ministry lies in how long you’re willing to pause for someone. This starts with the right posture. You are a steward, and in that humble posture, I want to ask you to get low. Get really low. Like the ground floor. Lean down, ear to the ground, to hear and understand what people are saying.

Use these questions as an opportunity to get your group thinking about why being early is so important:

  • Why is it so important to pause for someone? (Show them they are valuable and worth your time)

  • Why is it so important to have the right posture when meeting someone? (Show that you are actually interested in them and don’t display body language that makes them think you could care less they are there.)

  • Why is it so important to listen to a new guest? (Show them that you care and that they are there. You may be able to use that info to start up a new conversation with them one day so listen!)
