What is a Christian?
“I go to church. I try to live a good life and obey the Ten Commandments. I never intentionally hurt anyone. Doesn’t that make me a Christian?
”
Good question! However, the Bible’s answer would have to be, “No." Though it is commendable for someone to do all these good things, that is not how the Bible defines a true Christian. According to the New Testament, none of those things makes a person an authentic Christian.
According to current research, 84 percent of the population in the United States claims to be a Christian. Most base this solely on their belief in God and their attempts to live a good life. However, according to the Biblical usage of the word, a Christian is a person who has turned from his or her sin and placed faith in the atoning death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.(I Corinthians 15:1-4) If you feel that God is at work in your life and you desire to become a Christian, please contact Christ Dukes at
