LRC

The Stevens Street Baptist Church Learner Resource Center exists to provide resources that will assist members to mature in their faith so that they can be salt and light in a dark world.

The LRC/Library does this by providing resources that will help members know and reflect Christ better.  In the Reference Room, there are extensive study tools such as West Word Studies, Concordances (English and Spanish), Bible dictionaries, Bible encyclopedias and maps.  In addition to these primary study tools, the LRC/Library has Small Group Study materials, various Bible translations and Bible Commentaries by noted theologians such as John MacArthur, J. Vernon McGee, Matthew Henry, and Donald Grey Barnhouse.

In the main circulation room, there are extensive sections of Christian fiction, biographies, and books concerning various aspects of Christian living (marriage, family, finance, prayer) by well-known Christian authors such as James Dobson, Gary Smalley, Larry Burkett, Dave Ramsey, Chuck Swindoll, Charles Stanley, and Beth Moore.  Also available for check-out are many children and family-oriented movies in DVD and/or VHS format. Juvenile reading materials include many of the Sugarcreek Gang books and children’s classics.

The children’s room has a large selection of children’s books, including some books with accompanying tapes or CDs.  The room has ample space for on-site reading enjoyment.  Some of SSBC’s homeschooling families are already making good use of this room.

The LRC team is always adding new materials to the LRC.  Recommendations may be emailed to amylowhorn@gmail.com.  Any new materials or proposed materials will be subject to a screening process before being added to the Library.  The LRC team hopes to have direct website access to the electronic card catalog in the near future.

The LRC/Library Hours are 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday and Wednesday evenings and immediately following Sunday morning services. There is a drop slot in the side door so that materials can be returned at any time.  To reserve the reference room or any of the upstairs rooms for group studies or meetings, contact Deb Allred at 526-6398 or at dallred@stevensstreet.org.
