LifeGroup
Purpose and FAQs
The purpose of LifeGroups is to allow and encourage believers to Worship, Mature, and Serve by being involved in the local body of Christ, specifically Stevens Street Baptist Church.
For a visitor or new member of SSBC, the initial purpose of LifeGroups is to help the visitor or new member get to know other believers and become connected to the church. Beyond this, LifeGroup members will study God’s Word together and pray with and for each other. They will also hold one another accountable and encourage each other to grow in maturity. Finally, as a LifeGroup they will evangelize by being an example together to the world around them, by showing Christ’s love to each other and to the world, and by sharing the Gospel with their lost friends, acquaintances, neighbors, and co-workers. Below are some frequently asked questions about LifeGroups:
Q. How can I find the right LifeGroup for me?
A. Click “Find a LifeGroup” to search for LifeGroups that match your specific needs and interests. Or, click “Help Me Find a LifeGroup” to fill out information about yourself and have a SSBC staff member contact you to help you find the right Life Group.
Q. Is there a singles LifeGroup?
A. Yes; our Singles LifeGroup, called “Send Me, I’ll Go”, meets at 10:30 am on Sunday mornings in Room G114.
Q. Is there a divorce care LifeGroup?
A. No, not at this time.
Q. Are LifeGroups only on Sunday mornings?
A. No; some LifeGroups do meet on Sunday mornings, but others meet during the week in the homes of their members. Click “Find a LifeGroup” on the left to search for LifeGroups that meet on days that are convenient for you.
Q. What can I expect from a LifeGroup?
A. Each LifeGroup is different. The Word of God is always central to each LifeGroup’s meeting and discussion, but some LifeGroups may occasionally read other books based on their needs.
You may read the week’s section of the Bible or book during the LifeGroup meeting, or you may read it during the week and come to LifeGroup prepared to discuss it with the other members. The members of a LifeGroup will often talk about issues pertaining to their individual lives and pray with and for each other. Also, your LifeGroup may plan times to reach out and share the Gospel with their community. When you visit a LifeGroup, bring your Bible, a pencil and notebook, and a heart that is eager to meet other believers and grow in maturity. LifeGroups are also highly encouraged to serve together in the church and in the community. Your LifeGroup may talk about different opportunities for service and plan times for all of you to work together in whatever area(s) you choose to be involved in.
